Description

House, now school. 1848-49. By TE Owen. Roughcast. Welsh slate roof, brick stack on right. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic, tower bay 4 storeys, 5 bays. Right hand bay and bay to right of tower each have facing gable. Rusticated stone strips to quoins. Entrance porch on left of right bay 1 storey and attic, has 3 pointed arches with stone dressings, and within recess paired pointed arches. Door on left of porch with pointed fanlight. Gable facing dormer over with 6-pane casements. On right 4-light stone mullion and transomed window with two 3-pane lower casements and two 2-pane upper casements set in rusticated stone surround, drip stone label with moulded bosses, first floor window similar with two 3-pane casements, attic has narrow casement, projecting bracketed eaves to gable. To left of porch small fixed 12-pane casement set in rusticated stone surround with dripstone label. On first floor stone mullion and transomed window with rusticated stone surround and 4-centred arch with dripstone, has two 3-pane lower casements and two 2-pane upper casements, each under lancet arch, attic has narrow casement in rusticated stone surround. To left tower bay has narrow 12-pane sash set in rusticated stone surround with dripstone, first and second floor windows similar, 3rd floor has paired casement in similar stone surround with lancet arches and dripstones, bracketed cornice and flat topped hipped roof. To left stone mullion and transomed window similar to right bay, on first floor two 2-light casements in similar surrounds, no drip-stones. At rear 2 projecting wings with similar windows.
