Description
Monument. 1878. Granite. 4-sided stone monolith on stepped base. Inscription in bronze letters reads: "This monument is erected by the members of the Steam Engine Makers' Society as a last token of their esteem to their departed Bretheren. 1878". "In memory of Richard Whittle. George W. Adams. Thomas H. Jenkins who were killed by the explosion of a boiler on board H.M.S. Thunderer at Spithead. July 14th 1876".
