Listed Building: PLATT MONUMENT APPROXIMATELY 5 METRES NORTH OF CHANCEL OF CHURCH OF ST PETER AND ST PAUL (1333424)

Chest tomb. c1824. Ashlar. Podium with splayed and sloping fluted corners, frieze and ovolo moulded cap. Each corner has a cats head relief to frieze and sea shell relief at base. Roll moulded base set on projecting plinth, weathered lid set back from each of cap. Die has raised panel with inscription "Sacred to the memory of Mrs Anne Platt of Kings Terrace Southsea. obit. 1st of August 1824, etat 73 years". The monument formerly had an iron railed enclosure. Random broken stones to plinth and some ivy growth.
