Description
Villa, now school house. 1833. By TE Owen. Painted brickwork. Welsh slate roof with 3 in line diagonally set brick stacks at centre, 1 on right of centre and 2 on far right. Asymmetrical. Gothicised. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 bays. At centre bay 3 stone steps approach a 2-storey projecting porch with ogee brick arch opening, recessed C20 door at rear. On right return is a narrow casement under similar brick arch, corbelled timber framing to first floor, facing gable and bargeboard. First floor has a small rectangular oriel window with 2-light mullioned 4-pane casements supported on brick corbels, cornice and slate hipped roof. On left is a 1-storey recessed part with verandah on far left which has 2 narrow ogee brick arched openings returning on south face, slate lean-to roof. On right of verandah is a slightly projecting facing gable with bargeboard with 2-light mullioned casement, each with segmental hood and set under 4-centred arch. On first floor of recessed bay behind is a 3-light casement, each light with 4-panes, set under flat brick arch with drip-stone. On right of porch is a 1 storey lean-to part with facing gable at centre similar to that on left of porch, 2 blinded lancet headed narrow casements. To right and on first floor is a 4-pane sash each set under segmental brick arch. At rear is a 4-storey tower with projecting parapet. INTERIOR not inspected.
