Description
Portions probably 16th century in origin. Round Tower Traditionally on the site of a circular blockhouse of the late 15th century but now has the appearance of an Henrician blockhouse raised a storey in late 18 or early 19th century. Internally much altered. King James Tower or Square Tower. Date and function uncertain. Semaphore Tower or Old Magazine. Very much altered and replaced, 2 stories retains character as a magazine. Externally a bust of Charles I in a niche on N wall with an inscription. The wall between Long Curtain and King Edward`s Tower is all basically 17th century with later additions.
