Site Description Details:
Visit Date: 00/SEP/1973
Built c.1861-1868. Hexagonal with moat flanked by 1 double and 2 single caponiers. The minor branches of the moat flanked by musketry galleries. Provisions for 31 guns on the ramparts, 10 mortars in the casemates and 41 lighter guns for the defence of the flanks and gorge. Barracks in the gorge with demi-bastions at the ends.
