Description
Public house. 1906. By AE Cogswell. Colour glazed brick and tile facings. Welsh slate hipped roof, brick stack at centre. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 6 bays. At centre, 3rd bay has recessed 4-panelled door, upper 2 panels glazed, fixed side lights and fanlight set under glazed brick round arch with dripmould and keystone. To right and far left are 2 round-headed bar windows with engraved glass and on far right a shorter window with sill at impost level, each set under similar glazed brick round arch. At left to 2nd bay and on right to 5th bay is a 2-leaf panelled door with overlight, each set under ornamented flat glazed brick arch. Doors and windows flanked by Ionic pilasters with moulded tile imposts; fascia and cornice which projects over flanking and centre pilasters. On right is a 1-storey 1-bay wide extension with pilaster, fascia and cornice running through, glazed brick coped parapet. First floor with flanking quoin pilasters has 6 sashes set under band fascia and cornice with curved pediment, entablature and Ionic capital over bays 2 and 3; glazed brick panelled parapet with coping, pierced over bays 1, 3, 4 and 6 with balusters. Over bays 2 and 5 is an ornate ogee pediment each with flanking panels and scrolls, finial over pediment and panels. Public house front continues on left return facing Prince Albert Road 5 bays wide.
