Description
An excavation was carried out on Governor's Green, Portsmouth, in July 1953. A trench 11ft long by 4ft wide was dug on a line 32ft - 43ft from the Southeast corner of the Garrison Church. Very little is known about the circumstances of this excavation, as only a short report and hand drawn plans exist within the Portsmouth Museum Service files. It is not known who carried out the field work, although it may possibly have been Portsmouth Museum Service.
