Description

A survey of the Cookhouse at Fort Cumberland was carried out ahead of the building being modified and developed due to the relocation of the Ancient Monuments Laboratory section of English Heritage from London in 1999. The survey included photographic and annotated measured surveys with archaeological interpretation and analysis of the buildings. The 19th century brick Cookhouse was one of several historic buildings at the site that were surveyed as part of the relocation work. The exact date of the work is not recorded in the Centre for Archaeology report, but it appears to have taken place in either 1998 or 1999.
