Description
Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological watching brief at the Royal Garrison Church between the 24th January and 24th August 2022. The watching brief was undertaken on behalf of English Heritage during groundwork associated with conservation work at the site. This included works to replace the chancel screen, the installation of a new ramp in the nave and a new footpath and signage in the adjacent field.
The only archaeological feature encountered was a modern drain or possible wall revealed during excavation of the pathway in the south field. Known burial vaults and modern interventions were encountered during the removal of the chancel screen.
