Description

Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation at St James' Hospital on the 26th and 27th August 2025 on behalf of Vistry Southern to inform a planning application for residential development of the site. A previous evalution had been carried out at the site in 2024 [see EMP295]. A total of three trenches measuring 30m by 1.8m were excavated in the southern part of the site. The only features observed were a natural shallow feature, a modern ditch which cut the topsoil and a square concrete post footing. No archaeological features pre-dating the modern period were encountered.
