Description

Historic Building Record carried out in order to meet the conditions of Listed Building Concent granted by Portsmouth City Council 4th May 2012, for the proposed demolition of existing structures within the courtyard of Store 25, together with localised repairs. The HBR paid particular attention to elements of the building that did not relate to the original structure, and were to be removed as part of the clearance and demolition. These consisted of the east steel link and toilet, timber lean-to, courtyard glazed roof and partition, central first floor link, infill platform and a toilet and store. The structures were deemed to be unsympathetic to the historic nature of the building and it was thought that their demolition would have a beneficial impact on its character and appearance. All but the timber lean-to were 20th century in date. Pdp Green Consulting considered that the HBR was sufficient to satisfy the requirements of English Heritage and Portsmouth City Council, and that the condition to Listed Building Concent should be discharged to allow the demolition and clearance of the courtyard structures. Accession No. 2013/385
