Event/Activity EPM55 - Summary Report on an Archaeological Watching Brief at 29-37 Lombard Street, Old Portsmouth, Hampshire

A watching brief was carried out by Southern Archaeological Services on groundworks for a residential development at 29-37 Lombard Street, Old Portsmouth, in 2006. Observations of preliminary test pits for pile positions revealed one feature, a limestone wall bonded with white lime mortar, in one of the test pits along the southern boundary of the site. In other areas only modern brick and concrete, demolition and build-up layers were seen. Natural deposits (clay and gravel) were recorded in most of the test pits. Accession number: 2006/1543
