Event/Activity EPM63 - Archaeological test pitting and a watching brief at the Tesco North Harbour development, Portsmouth

Archaeological test pitting programme and watching brief carried out in March 2002 during groundworks associated with the enlargement of the Tesco North Harbour site. The site had been partly under residential use and was partly a grassed area prior to the groundworks taking place. The area of North Harbour was used as agricultural land until the 20th century, with no significant construction taking place until the row of houses were built on the site, and subsequently demolished to make way for the current development. No archaeological features or deposits were observed during fieldwork.
