Event/Activity EPM71 - Archaeological watching brief at the Bridge Street Centre, Portsmouth

Archaeological watching brief carried out during groundworks associated with the redevelopment of the Bridge Street Centre site and associated road works in Portsmouth. Modern landscaping and demolition was observed in the strata, together with clear evidence of levelling in some areas. It was felt that this modern clearance and levelling had removed most, if not all, archaeological features. This was reflected in the post-medieval to modern finds recovered from the spoil of trench 10. These consisted of fragments of pottery, tile and clay pipe. Accession number: 2001/11
