Monument MPM1114 - Cellar and Oven, 91 High Street

Remains of a red-brick cellar with baking oven belonging to the former 91 High Street revealed during excavations at Cathedral Green in 1988. The oven was thought to have been constructed during the mid-18th century.

The remains of a red-brick cellar belonging to the former 91 High Street were revealed during excavations at Cathedral Green in 1988. After removing part of the red-brick barrel-vaulting, the cellar was found to contain a near complete baking oven, approximately 2m in diametre. The oven was thought to have been constructed in the mid-18th century. During the mid-19th century, 91 High Street was occupied by a pastry-cook and baker called 'Way'.

The structure was not fully investigated as it lay outside the main area of excavation.
