British sloop which struck the Horse and Dean sand on the 18th December 1853 during a force 10 gale.

Summary: British Smack, 1853
Struck the Horse and Dean Sand in thick weather, during a SSE force 10 gale, due to stress of weather, and was run ashore on the mainland to prevent her foundering. Loss on vessel: #500; loss on cargo: #90. (1)(2) `Portsmouth, 19th December - The PRINCE REGENT (smack), De Janssarand, from Guernsey to London, in running within the White during the gale of last night, got on shore on the Horse Sand and became a total wreck on Lumps Beach; crew saved as well as some of the rigging and sails.' (3) Source (2) describes vessel as a sloop.
