Cargo ship, Peter and Ann, grounded near Eastney Fort in 1763.
Data from the National Record of the Historic Environment:
`Portsmouth, 31st Dec. Yesterday was drove ashore near Eastney Fort, 3 miles from this town, the PETER AND ANN, Wright, from St. Ubes for Dram, loaded chiefly with salt and some fruit; the vessel is bulged, but the people are saved with the fruit and the ship's materials.' (2)
`The PETER AND ANN, Wright, from St. Ubes for Norway, that was ashore on Southsea Beach near Portsmouth, by favour of an high tide floated off, by which means it is hoped she will be saved.' (3)
