Monument MPM1175 - Pit, Fratton Road

Pit containing several cow bones, fragments of brick, 18th/19th century pottery and glass, found opposite the entrance to St. Mary's Church Fratton during a watching brief in 2009.

A pit was revealed opposite the entrance to St. Mary's Church, during a watching brief on a gas pipe trench in Fratton Road in 2009. The pit measured 900mm long, was 490mm deep and had a rounded base. It contained several cow metacarpals and metatarsals, fragments of brick, a fragment of 18th/19th century Verwood pottery and fragments of 19th century glass.
