Full Description
A total of 14 flints recovered during a watching brief at St James' Hospital, Milton, in 2008. Two of the flints dated to the Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age period, one to the Mesolithic/Early Neolithic era.
The flints were recovered from subsoil in an area of tree throws (cavities or depressions caused by tree roots). They comprised: 6 burnt flints of unknown date (1 rolled pebble, 4 'chunks' and 1 flake); 2 'chunks', 2 flakes and 1 core trimming flake of unknown date; 1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age 'chunk'/rough core; 1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flake with rough retouch/denticulation along one edge; 1 Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flake struck from blade core with platform preparation and retouch along edge.
