Full Description

Excavations in 1975 revealed extensive cellarage belonging to the 19th century County Court. The building was destroyed during the Second World War, and the site subsequently levelled with bricks and rubble. The cellars cut into the natural plateau gravel, and had removed any trace of previous occupation on the site.

The site is known as 'Highbury Street', although excavations took place in three areas on land between St. Thomas' Street and Highbury Street. This record relates to a feature from 'Area 1'.

Accession number 1975/323
