Full Description

Sherds of pottery dating to the medieval-18th century, and fragments of 17th century clay pipe, recovered during excavations in 1983. The finds comprised: one late-medieval sherd of white coarse earthenware with an external green glaze, French; two sherds of 15th/16th century green glazed coarseware; three sherds of late 17th century coarseware, one green glazed, two yellow-cream; one small sherd of white salt-glazed stoneware, Staffordshire, c.1720-40; two fragments of clay pipe stem c.1660; two fragments of clay pipe bowl c.1640-60.
