Find Spot MPM125 - Sceatta from Mansvid Avenue, Cosham

An Anglo-Saxon Sceatta found in the garden of 1 Mansvid Avenue, Cosham in 1968. The coin was inscibed ELVNDO IIV (London), BMC no. 93 Type 14, 8th century. In the collection of Portsmouth Museum Service, accession number 1968/190. [1]

This type of coin was made between 675 AD and 760 AD. This example shows some of the features of series H associated with Wessex and particularly Southampton but they are generally hard to pin down the date precisely. [2]
