Monument MPM1286 - Former Nissen Hut, Governor's Green

Four features, probably related to a Second World War Nissen hut complex which stood on the site in the 1940s, recorded during excavations in 2009.

Four features recorded during excavations on Governor's Green in 2009 were interpreted as belonging to part of a Second World War Nissen hut complex. They were all revealed in Trench 1. The details of the features are as follows:

F104 - Roughly circular steep sided pit measuring 128m in diameter and over 0.75m deep. The feature was not fully excavated.
F106 - Subrectangular feature measuring 0.46m in length and 0.33m wide. The feature was not excavated.
F108 - Subrectangular feature measuring 0.66m in length and 0.52m wide. The feature was not excavated.
F139 - Small oval feature with concave sides and base, measuring 0.62m in length, 0.51m wide and 0.11 deep.
