Find Spot MPM1377 - Finds from excavation in White Hart Road

Medieval pottery and 17th century clay pipe recovered during a week long excavation in White Hart Road in 1989. Due to the amount of clay pipe present, it was thought that the excavation may have taken place on the site of a public house. The medieval pottery provided evidence that there were people living near the waterfront in Old Portsmouth during the 14th century.[1]

The site is recorded in the museum archaeology collection daybook as being 'adjacent to the American pub'. The finds, which also included glass, are held within the museum collection, accession number: 1989/452.
