Building MPM1518 - Isambard Brunel Junior School, Wymering Road

Prominent red brick school with Dutch gables on west and east elevations. Red clay tile roof, chimneys, sash windows, Tower on south elevation. Built 1896. Originally known as the Drayton Road School and designed by A. H. Bone. [1]

The school was opened in 1896 as a Board School for Boys, Girls, and Infants. In 1933 it became Senior Boys and Girls and Infants, and in 1946 became Drayton Road Secondary Modern for Boys. In 1952 the school was renamed North End Modern School for Boys, and Brunel Secondary Modern in 1968. The Infants School was renamed Meredith Primary in 1968. [2]
