Monument MPM1526 - Remains of Drill Hall, Pembroke Path

The remains of four brick wall footings revealed during a watching brief in 2010. The walls almost certainly belonged to a Drill Hall shown on the 1952 Ordnance Survey map. Two of the walls were aligned east-west, and two north south.

A modern soil layer containing abundant brick was observed in the same trenches as these walls. This layer was also found slightly to the west, on the north face of a brick wall footing (see MPM1525) and the shallow remains of a limestone wall footing (MPM1532). It is possible the layer may represent a back-filled cellar.
