Type and Period (1)
Full Description
A series of brick wall footings revealed during a watching brief at Gunwharf Quays in 2004, were thought have belonged to the former Ariadne building which was constructed between 1922 and 1925. Some of the foundations had been reinforced with rails, and the remains of railway sleepers found near the footings may have been leftover from this process. A concrete platform parallel to the foundations was probably part of the Ariadne buildings flooring. A brick structure observed during the excavation of a drainage chamber to the north-east was thought to relate to an out building.
