Find Spot MPM1670 - Medieval and post-medieval finds, South Border, Wymering Manor

Sherds of medieval and post-medieval pottery and fragments of building material recovered from the south border of the garden at Wymering Manor.

Small quantity of medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds and building material (probably all post-medieval - modern), recovered from the south border of the grounds of Wymering Manor during gardening in 2015. The pottery included a few small sherds of medieval green glaze ware, and blue and white patterned post-medieval wares. The building material included fragments of roof tile (at least one with peg holes), bricks, and fragments of roof slate.

Several other items, including fragments of clay pipe stems, a few fragments of animal bone and teeth, oyster shell, and at least one ammonite were also recovered from the border.
