Public Park opened on the 28th June 1907. Named after Queen Alexandra. The site originally comprised a park, bandstand, tennis courts, bowling greens, a cycle track, and children's playground. Today the park is home to the Mountbatten Sports Centre, Portsmouth Athletic Club, Victory Bowls Association and Portsmouth Gymnastics Centre. It still includes bowling greens, tennis courts and a cycle track, together with an athletics track.
The North End Recreation Grounds to the north of the park, now Alexandra Park Recreation Grounds, were opened 1892.
