Full Description
Memorial to the service men and women and the civilians of Portsmouth who lost their lives during the Second World War. The memorial was officially unveiled by the Duchess of Kent in 2005. The panels naming the civilians who died were completed in September 2016 when a further ceremony took place.
The memorial consists of a stone plinth and semi-circular memorial wall containing the names of those who died. The plinth has a plaque bearing the following inscription 'IN MEMORY OF THE SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN AND THE CIVILIANS OF PORTSMOUTH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN DEFENCE OF THEIR COUNTRY DURING WORLD WAR II'.
