Full Description
18th/19th century cannon found in Portsmouth Dockyard during an archaeological watching brief in c. 1999. The cannon was recovered from backfill to the east of the remains of a pitch house (see MPM1743) on Pitch House Jetty. Part of the muzzle appeared to be missing. The cannon may have previously been used as a bollard, or have been discarded when it was no longer of use.
