Full Description
Dressed Portland stone or replacement concrete plaque in the south elevation of the Portsmouth Building, HM Naval Base, which bears the inscription: 'Under this Stone theres a water Beer'. The stone marks the site of an old well or water tank which supplied the garden belonging to the 17th century Commissioner's House, demolished in the 1780s.
