Full Description
Large quantities of burnt flints and oyster and winkle shells were reported to have been found during the excavation of the torpedo range on Horsea Island in 1886. The finds were shown to members of the Hampshire Field Club when they visited Little Horsea Island to inspect the works. According to the Hampshire Telegraph (20th August 1887) the flints and shells had been deposited in heaps. They were thought to represent evidence of prehistoric occupation/activity on the island.
