Monument MPM1848 - Site of Drayton Farm

Drayton is mentioned in records from the 13th century onwards, and it is likely there would have been a farm within the manor from at least the medieval period. [1]

La Fabvolliere's map of c1665 marks 'Drayton Farme' as the property of Mr Garth'. [2]

Drayton Farm was one of two farms in Drayton mentioned in 18th and 19th century records, the other being Beaumonts/Lower Drayton Farm. [1] (See MPM1841).

The 1838 Farlington tithe map and award records the farm as the Homestead and garden of George Tickner, owned by Richard Bingham Newland [3]. A James Goslin occupied the farm during the mid-19th century. The farm is still marked on the 1952 Ordnance Survey map [4]. The site was redeveloped for housing post-1952.
