Monument MPM1869 - Site of former homestead, Drayton

The 1838 Farlington tithe map and award records a homestead to the south-east of Lower Drayton Farm (see MPM1841), in the occupation of Peter Osmond (owned by Lady James Busbane). At this date the buildings did not include a house which is shown approximately 15m to the north-east on the Ordnance Survey maps from at least 1870 onwards. The site is marked as Marsh House in 1870, Drayton Cottage in 1898 and 1910, and Flint House in 1932 and 1952. All but one of the farm buildings shown on the 1838 tithe map had gone by 1952. The site has since been redeveloped for housing, but the area where most of the buildings were situated is still open land.
