Full Description
The remains of the town moat which had been infilled 1668-1685 when the defences were remodelled were observed during a watching brief at the East Side Plaza, Gunwharf, in 2005. The moat was recorded to the south of a late-17th century rampart (see MPM1912). The fill consisted of a homogenous dark brown soil containing flecks of ceramic building material. No finds were recovered.
