Full Description
Liberal club built in 1893, later known as Soutsea Social Club. Designed by Rake and Son and A. E. Cogswell. A foundation stone bears the following inscription: 'THIS STONE WAS LAID ON AUGUST 30TH 1893 BY MR MARK GILL CHAIRMAN OF THE COMPANY. MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT FOR THE BOROUGH ALDERMAN J. BAKER. W.O. CLOUGH ESQ. RAKE SON & COGSWELL ARCHITECTS. W W EVANS BUILDER'. A sign painted on the north elevation with white letters on a blue background reads 'SOUTHSEA LIBERAL CLUB Affiliated to C. & I UNION'.
