Monument MPM1980 - Possible aerial mast base

The remains of what may have been an aerial mast base were recorded on the foreshore on Horsea Island during a walk over survey in 2016. What was thought to be a torpedo transporter and the remains of sleepers for transport tracks were also recorded.

The remains of what may have been an aerial mast base were recorded within a section of foreshore on Horsea Island to the south of the former torpedo testing range during a walk over survey in 2016. What was thought to have been a torpedo transporter and the remains of sleepers for transport tracks were also recorded. The remains of the possible aerial mast base may have related to one of the Wireless Telegraphy Stations that were in use on Horsea Island between 1909 and the 1960s.
