Monument MPM2001 - SWS sign, Doyle Avenue

Part of a Second World War SWS (Static Water Supply) sign on the north wall of 182 Northern Parade. The original paintwork from the letters 'SWS' no longer survives, but the outline has been preserved in the brickwork. A rectangular area around the 'SWS' is painted black. Part of the sign has been removed by the insertion of a modern circular window.

SWS signs directed the Fire Service to the emergency static water tanks that were located around the city for use in fighting fires during and after bombing raids.
