Full Description
The remnants of a Second World War SWS (Static Water Supply) sign painted on the north wall of 82 Winter Road (sign in Westfield Road). The sign has been painted directly onto the brickwork and has yellow letters with a slight black outline. Only the top half of one S and the W appear to remain.
SWS signs directed the Fire Service to the emergency static water tanks that were located around the city for use in fighting fires during and after bombing raids.
