Full Description
Second World War SWS (Static Water Supply) sign painted on the west wall of 118 Laburnum Grove (sign in Beaulieu Road). An arrow to the right of the letters is pointing right (south) down Beaulieu Road. The original paintwork from the letters 'SWS' and arrow no longer survives, but the outline has been preserved in the brickwork. A rectangular area around the letters and arrow is painted black.
SWS signs directed the Fire Service to the emergency static water tanks that were located around the city for use in fighting fires during and after bombing raids.
