Type and Period (2)
Full Description
Linear ditch recorded in a trial trench during an archaeological evaluation in 2021. The ditch was 1.1m wide x 0.7m long (as exposed within the trench) and 0.25m deep. The ditches fill comprised loose grey brown silty sand with loose flint and chalk inclusions. It did not contain any finds. This feature may have been prehistoric as it did not appear to relate to post-medieval or modern field boundaries or agricultural disturbance. It was not on the same alignment as a cropmark visible on historic aerial photographs that the trench was targeting.
