Second World War SWS (Static Water Supply) sign painted on the east wall of 24 Beecham Road (sign in Avondale Road). Very faded yellow lettering on brick wall, no background. Only part of first S and part of second S visible.
SWS signs directed the Fire Service to the emergency static water tanks that were located around the city for use in fighting fires during and after bombing raids.
