Second World War SWS (Static Water Supply) sign painted on the north wall of 318 Fratton Road. The first S is obscured by the wall of Long Acre Court(?). Yellow painted letters appear to be on the remains of a white background.
SWS signs directed the Fire Service to the emergency static water tanks that were located around the city for use in fighting fires during and after bombing raids.
