Building MPM2026 - Quay House, Broad Street, Old Portsmouth

Former Art Deco offices built 1938-39 for Fraser and White coal merchants. The building was used as the Portsmouth Embarkation Area HQ during the D-Day landings in 1944. Converted into flats in 2009.

Quay House was the Embarkation Area HQ for the Portsmouth sector during D-Day. The headquarters co-ordinated the loading of troops onto ships at the four main Portsmouth embarkation sites, one of which was located at the nearby Camber Quay. [2]

According to a plaque on the side of the building it was formerly known as Wightlink House [3]. The building has also been known as Powell Duffryn House during its history (1975 Kelly's Directory) [4].
