Monument MPM2136 - Masonry, field east of King's Bastion
Summary
Map
Type and Period (1)
Full Description
Masonry was encountered in an inspection pit excavated in a field to the east of King's Bastion during a watching brief on ground investigation work in 2023. The masonry possibly represented the remains of the moat wall to the former post-medieval town defences. Historical plans of the area suggest the pit was probably situated within a section of the inner glacis to the defences.
