Find Spot MPM244 - Iron Age occupation site Paulsgrove

Iron Age working floor found in July 1964 just below high water mark on the foreshore at Paulsgrove (Now Port Solent). Alluvium mixed with some burnt clay contained numerous calcined flints and Iron Age pottery. A few pieces of briquetage were also found.

An Iron Age working floor found in July 1964 by Richard Bradley just below High water Mark on the foreshore at Paulsgrove. (Now Port Solent). The find was made on a tongue of reclaimed saltings, approximately 487 centimetres by 305 centimetres. Alluvium mixed with some burnt clay contained numerous calcined flints and Iron Age A and B pottery forms. A few pieces of briquetage were also found which were comparable with find from other local sites. Day book number H/64/65c.
