Full Description
A number of pieces of Roman ceramic found in 1969 in the angle of Southwick Road and Portsdown Hill Road. Found in 1969 the finds consisted of roof and flue tile, New Forest ware and finger-tip storage jar sherds. Also found were flint tempered sherds, possibly Iron Age in date. The rim of a medieval cooking pot was also found. In 1976 further sherds of Roman pottery including New Forest ware and one piece of Samian were found at the same site. Accession number 1972/542 and Day book number E/79/33.
