Building MPM406 - CRANESWATER MIDDLE SCHOOL

School built c1893, designed by A.E. Cogswell. Originally named Highland Road School. The main school building was occupied by the Southern Secondary School for Boys for a short period after the Second World War, although the infants and juniors of Highland Road School continued to be based in buildings on the site. The site is now Craneswater Junior School.

Red brick school built c1893 designed by A.E. Cogswell [1, 2]. Extended 1910 [3]. Originally opened as Highland Road School for girls and infants 1893. The Southern Secondary School for Boys (also known as the Portsmouth Southern Grammar School for Boys) moved into the main block after the Second World War, although the junior and infants of Highland Road School remained on the site. The whole site is now Craneswater Junior School. [1]
